This is a Black Panther Music review for the new Black Panther soundtrack produced by Kendrick Lamar.

Black Panther: The Album is heading for a No. 1 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, according to, which was released on Feb. 9 via Top Dawg/Aftermath/Interscope Records.

The album features music from and inspired by the new Marvel Studios film Black Panther, which opens in theaters on Feb. 16. The Black Panther album includes five tracks featuring Kendrick Lamar — who curated and produced the album with Top Dawg Entertainment’s Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith — along with tunes by The Weeknd, SZA, Khalid and James Blake, including many of Lamar’s fellow artists signed to Top Dawg Entertainment

The soundtrack is a diverse, audacious holistic combination with the first predominantly black movie in the Marvel Comic Universe.

The film Black Panther is not the first black blockbuster, or even the first black superhero movie, but there has never been a movie on this scale in the history of Marvel Studios Movies.

Kendra Lamar kicks off the Black Panther soundtrack by rapping the word king 29 times in 50 seconds, in yet another one of those skillful verbal explosions that has made him famous and one of the greatest rappers of all time! (in my opinion)

The album brings together old friends and new superstars and fierce up-and comers, enlarging Kendrick Lamar’s Southern California stronghold from Atlanta to South Africa!

The PROs & The CONs

  • Contains great rhythms, lyrics, harmonies and melodies.
  • Raises awareness of the historical/contemporary social and political truths impacting people of the African Diaspora.
  • Its a layered exceptionally put together album.
  • Has both edited and explicit versions
  • It’s primarily Hip Hop/Rap.
  • Only three of the songs are in the movie.

This album is for anyone interested in the film but it is primarily for the individual who enjoy rap/ hip hop and American Pop music and its African roots. The Explicit version is not for your child. Maybe you should get them the clean version!

My Final Opinion of BLACK PANTHER: THE ALBUM

I’m listening to the album as I type and I haven’t stopped vibing to the beats and agreeing with some of his rhetoric expressed through this dope presentation of The Marvel Soundtrack slayer mixtape!

The movie opens in theater’s this weekend, Rotten Tomatoes has given their 2 cents about the movie and everyone is buying tickets to go see the film opening weekend. This is a great way to spend time with your family and kids if you have any.

The PG-13 Action & Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction & Fantasy, “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s courage as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

The movie is Directed By: Ryan Coogler & Written By: Joe Robert Cole, Ryan Coogler.

  1. I really did enjoy reading your review on the newly released Black Panther music. I went with my family to see it on post where I live and it was a great movie. The music was very well written and we all enjoyed it. I didn’t know that there was only 3 songs that were in the movie from the album. A lot of great information and I look forward to buying the album.
