“Amazon Music Unlimited is a music streaming service that offers on-demand access to tens of millions of songs” according to Amazon. Get Amazon Music Unlimited especially if you have any if the voice controlled speakers from Amazon.

Amazon Music Unlimited doesn’t significantly change the game per say, but it does offer prominent features that deserve a look, especially if you own one of Amazon’s voice-controlled speakers.

Of course, there are plenty of free streaming music options!

The Spotify and Apple Music competitor has cut the price for new subscribers to just 99 cents per month for the first three monthsAmazon Music Unlimited is also offering that same deal!

The Amazon Music Unlimited deal is valid now through December 23, 2017.

Amazon Music Unlimited vs. Amazon Prime Music

For those who already have Amazon Prime Music, signing up causes Music Unlimited to replace Prime Music as your Amazon music subscription service.

Prime Music exists as a separate streaming music service, and it does a good job as a music hub that also integrates your own local files if you use the downloadable desktop app.

The Amazon Echo Effect

Music Unlimited increased library size makes it considerably more interesting to use with an Amazon Echo, (on sale now!) Amazon Echo Dot $29.99 at Amazon, or Tap.

Amazon’s smart speakers also delivers behind-the-scenes commentary.

In addition, you can use an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, or Tap to search for songs by lyrics, start up playlists, and search for songs that match your mood.

Amazon Echo Show $299.99 at Amazon owners receive an additional benefit: lyrics.

Spotify’s Alexa app, on the other hand, does not display lyrics.

The Good & The Bad

The Good:

PRO #1: Tens of millions of songs with new releases from today’s most popular artists.

PRO #2: Listen ad-free with unlimited skips.

PRO #3: Scrolls lyrics.

PRO #4: Useful Amazon-specific features.

PRO #5: Tight integration with Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Tap.

PRO #6: Delivers behind-the-scenes commentary.

PRO #7: Download your favorite music for offline listening.

PRO #8: Download music on your iPhone, iPad and/or iPod touch running iOS 9.0 or higher.

The Bad:

CON #1: No free version.

CON #2: Lacks live radio (non-music) content.

CON #3: Cannot use it to stream music via apps or a Web browser.

CON#4: It does not let you record audio.

The consumer who doesn’t own any Amazon anything and would like to get the best selling soul music right to their device… can subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited for $9.99 per month ($0.99 per month for the first three months valid now through December 23, 2017.)

This is the same price you’d pay for Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal or Google Play Music.

Maybe the best dispute for choosing it is if you think you’ll purchase Prime and/or an Echo at some point in the future. However, if you go with, just Spotify from the start, you’ll still be able to enjoy the Echo integration.

To all the Apple users… with the Amazon Music app, you can play or download music on your iPhone, iPad and/or iPod touch running iOS 9.0 or higher.

The audience that will benefit the most from this subscription is the consumer who also has any of Amazon’s voice-controlled speakers.

With other streaming services such as Microsoft Groove and Tidal, Music Unlimited abstains from a free version and charges the industry-standard $9.99 per month for its ad-free Individual plan.

Note, however, that Amazon Prime subscribers receive a discount that drops the fee to $7.99 per month (or $79 per year)-on top of their $99 per year Prime fee. No, Amazon Music Unlimited is not included with Prime membership.

Amazon also offers a $14.99 per month (or $149 per year) Family Plan that covers six people. This offering rivals Spotify and Tidal’s similar packages. And a 30-day free trial is available for people who want to try before they subscribe.

This recommendation is based almost entirely on the Amazon voice-controlled devices Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show and Tap features.

If you don’t have one of those devices, I would suggest you stick with what you have or try out the other competitions offers and make a decision based on what is best for you and your pocket.

You can also make a decision to purchase any of the Amazon devices compatible with Music Unlimited such as, Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show and Tap.

So, if you own one of Amazon’s smart speakers or would like too, you should definitely give Music Unlimited your undivided attention.

  1. What’s up Ladi Soul,
It seem that Amazon just about offers everything imaginable these days. I like the music streaming service and been thinking of joining. I use Amazon prime and been a member for a few years now and really like the service. In terms of the music streaming service everyone in my family uses IPhones, but I use an android phone. Will Amazon music unlimited work with an android phone?

      What’s Happening Edgar!

You are right Amazon offers everything!

Anywho, Yes! You can use Amazon Music Unlimited on any Android or IOS compatible platform!

      Thanks For commenting!

  2. Hello! Great review on Amazon Music Unlimited. I have been a Prime member for quite some time, and I am always receiving emails that I am not taking full advantage of my membership. The emails always refer to Amazon Prime Music. Since I do not have a voice-controlled device, and not sure if I will get one in the near future, is there a benefit of Unlimited over Prime music, or are they basically the same but Unlimited is for people without Prime memberships? Interested in Prime music but not sure which is better deal.

    1. Jamie Clay says:

      Thanks for Commenting Chris!

The better deal is if you have a Prime membership and do NOT have a voice controlled device from Amazon it is still the better deal because as a Prime member you are offered the Music Unlimited at a discount of $7.99 a month compared to the $9.99 a month without the Prime membership.

Again, you do not need a voice controlled device from Amazon. You can use Amazon Unlimited on any Android or IOS compatible device. You have a better experience if you have the other Amazon products to accompany the service because those products are manufactured by Amazon.

I hope I’ve answered your inquiry.

  3. That was a really well written and super in-depth review you gave. I only started reading it as I had never heard of Amazon Music Unlimited, what doesn’t Amazon have nowadays lol. You almost had me convinced to try it out as I have everything Apple and iTunes but when I reached your final thoughts, it made a lot of sense as I don’t own any Amazon speakers (I have BOSE everything) but I think I may look into doing some research on those speakers for my cottage and maybe try out Amazon Music Unlimited, no better place to try out music then at the cottage on the lake right? Do you have a review on your site for any of those Amazon speakers? Do you use those speakers? Are they any good? And are they waterproof? 20 questions done!

    1. Jamie Clay aka Ladi Soul says:

      Hi Jair!

I have both android and ipad devices that I use to listen to Amazon Music Unlimited. I do not have the Echo yet, however I did purchase them and I am awaiting there arrival. Once I’ve get them and try it out, I will do the review on the speakers. I love music and the sound means everything when you listening to your Jams!

Now as for the BOSE Speakers you have the top of the line and probably really don’t need them! But if you have a place where they can be of good use, why not!

And I did check with Amazon to see if they were waterproof, and they were not! lol

  4. We currently have the Echo Dot Bluetoothed to a speaker and play music via Amazon Prime. It’s superb, the song choice is pretty impressive. The convenience we find in walking into the kitchen and asking Alexa to play what we want to hear is superb but we keep wondering whether to increase the music choice by joining Amazon’s Music Unlimited.

You mention that you’re not able to play radio. We currently play Tunein radio many times through the app via Alexa, will this be removed even if we continue with Prime?
    Thanks for your detailed review,

    1. Jamie Clay aka Ladi Soul says:

Hi Simon! First thanks for commenting! If you keep your Prime membership you will not loose Tunein radio because it’s included. If you get rid of Prime you will loose Tunein Radio! Amazon Music Unlimited opens the door to even more music than what’s offered through the Prime membership. It’s like VIP, at your favorite bands concert.

I was riding down the road yesterday and heard about this music streaming service and I came online to find out more information about it. Great information! I am not very tech savvy but I love music.

So this is perfect for me. I think Amazon is a perfect fit for me being that I shop there already. Thanks for the post!
